The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna

Wow, great writing and a fun setup!

I loved the central metaphor of this story—that being a witch makes you lonely. That weirdness is too much for the ordinary world.

When the book opens, our heroine has been taught since birth that she needs to hide her light under a proverbial bushel so as not to frighten others. She goes along with it, mostly. Until a certain rowdy family with three witch daughters shows her that power is to be cultivated and not feared.

Plus, this book has the best first kiss ever. :) And terrific writing all around.
