Solstice by Eli Easton and RJ Scott

Genre mashup: LGBTQ romance + procedural suspense thriller
Vibes: small town and yet darkness
Wow! I’m not sure how I came to discover this series—possibly while surfing through the Kobo+ offerings—but it was just what I needed. Each of the three books has its own suspense arc. But the series arc, a romance between Tiber and Gabriel, was fantastic, too.
Gabriel is a small town sheriff with a dark past. He’s trying to make amends with his family.
Tiber is a wounded empath struggling to recover from a terrible relationship. And his job, as an animal psychic, was fascinating. By coincidence I had just listened to a podcast about a real life animal psychic and so I was primed to enjoy this portrayal.
I miss these characters now that I’m finished with the trilogy! The setting in a rural part of Washington State was moody and wonderful, too.
