When I closed this book, I didn’t want to leave these characters behind. I don’t know anything about tennis, but clearly Mr. Vellner does. The author uses his research to create a very three dimensional pro tennis world. I’d read before (in Agassi’s memoir) about how lonely the sport can be, and this truth permeates Leo’s narrative. Until Gabe lets down his guard…
